Why Petra?

Because I love coaching! I’m good at helping you figure out what you want in life and then supporting you in attaining it. The process is as fulfilling for me as it is empowering for you.

My strengths are: bringing chaos to order, helping you identify and clarify what you really want, and helping you put your feelings into words. I value clear communication, have high standards of quality, enjoy problem-solving, am resourceful, and love collaborating with people.

I got my training at Coach U, the leading global provider of training for coaches.  I’m a member of–and working toward certification with–the International Coach Federation, which is the organization that sets standards and provides independent certification for coaches.

I own Heron Lake Press, which publishes Mixed Emotions, a revolutionary card deck that helps people put their feelings into words. (Author and physician Bernie Siegel says “Mixed Emotions can be literally life-saving.”) I use the cards with my coaching clients to help them set and refine their goals and to ensure that their goals are in harmony with who they are.

I also own the Whidbey Island Writer’s Refuge, a cabin in the woods where writers (or those working on projects) can get away and work toward the goals they’ve set for themselves.

I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in English, worked as a writer and editor in the field of public relations, then moved on to creating software documentation at Microsoft. After more than a decade there, I left, gave birth to my son, and began the process of rediscovering and reinventing myself. Because of that experience, I especially enjoy working with those who are undergoing a metamorphosis.

Along with my son, Adrian, I enjoy living and working on 13 Moons Farm, where we have chickens, ducks, a sheepdog, and a hive of bees.
